I am a Sansei, with two teens, and a hamster. This blog is a repository for ideas and observations, expressed in cartoon form, by and large. A bit of a journal too. Feel free to follow me on INSTAGRAM @ WILTOONS, (the Twitter for people who like to go out) where I post a journal comic. Thanks for dropping by! The pic is of me and my boy Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits. (not really a fan but he wanted his pic with me) © Wilton Sugiyama and Wiltoons, 2009 to 2020. 1. Public shaming is quite common now, isn’t it? There are the websites that feature people in Walmart dressed inappropriately, and sites that show people’s bad parking, just to name a couple.

  2. Great comment Candice! I could have titled this ‘the normalizing of public shaming’. Author Jon Ronson has written an excellent book on this very subject. In this hyper-accelerated culture we live in now, little heed is paid to the damage that is left behind when we public shame. (just Google: ‘chick fil A public shaming’ as a most compelling and prime example)

  3. It is for the best, Anne. Keeps everyone in line. On the other hand, what about billboards that espouse citizens’ good deeds! Jim: tried asparagus. Or Shirley: Did the NY Times crossword in pen!
