Wonder when cruises will be a thing again? Our city of Vancouver was pretty reliant on those tourism bucks – not to mention the many many jobs related to the industry. (not excluding salty cruise ship captains)
It IS how we Canadians operate, take it to the bank, eh! Super proud to be one, but fireworks and parades are just ‘off-brand’ for us, to put it in modern parlance. I am proud of how our country is faring right now – measured and lacking hysteria.
Counter-intuitive? I regard anything FREE with suspicion and foreboding. I’d MUCH rather pay and have a possibility of getting my money back through reasonable discourse or, failing that, abject whining.
Heard Steve Coogan relate this one – bonus points if you can name the British TV show this sketch came from!
Almost all my comics contain autobiographical references, and this one is no different.
As a pre-teen, and teen, I gravitated to those books that dealt with (euw) feelings and family matters, than the rough and tumble boys’ adventures. I did love those too – Arthur C Clarke, Tom Swift books, Robert Cormier, Hardy Boys, The Great Brain series, et al. I really enjoyed the ‘girl’s’ fiction, it gave me a window into understanding them, although I am no closer now than I was then, LOL. Judy Blume’s books figured largely, especially Forever, and Then Again Maybe I Won’t.
There needs to be a shame sheriff, to keep us all in line, throw us in the Pokey, if necessary, to cogitate on all our wrongdoings. Give me a nice gold sheriff badge, I’m glad to take the job! I’ll wield a firm but fair hand.
Naturally he opted for Economy. Silly rabbit!
